Default Menu appears Online OK, but not Offline!

I'm just getting to grips with version 5. I find that I can get the menus to appear fine online, but they don't appear offline - I get an error message in IE8, using Windows XP Home:

Webpage error details
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; AIRF; Q312461; GTB6.4; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Timestamp: Mon, 22 Feb 2010 21:23:37 UTC

Message: Invalid character
Line: 1
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: file:///C:/all%20my%20webs/highfield.../popup5/lp5.js

What can it be?

Hi,

Which version (build) of version 5 are you using?
Also, can you post the HTML page you are using when this error occurs?

Is it the standard preview page that the program generates, or are you using a different one?

Hi,

Are you trying to open one of your webpages locally and then you get this error? If this is the case then I think that this is normal.

I get the same error when I try to preview a page (from Dreamweaver) locally. It was also the same with Version 4 of the menu creator and most other scripts. There are some settings in IE to allow active content to run locally but I don't think that this will solve your problem.

To preview your pages with the menu locally you should really setup a local web server (IIS) with the same folder structure of your website to test everything properly.
